description
Folkestone & Hythe District Council is responsible on behalf of the Folkestone Parks and Pleasure Grounds charity for the maintenance and provision of the beach huts that are situated over-looking the sea along Marine Walk in the Coastal Park Area of Folkestone.
The area of works is located within the coastal park fronting the maintenance access road for the beach in Folkestone.
Folkestone beach is a shingle fronted beach with sea wall and a promenade that will provide access to the works. The coastal park is a popular park, with restaurant, public toilets, large play area and peaceful grounds within Folkestone that attracts ~600,000 visitors a year.
The Council is looking to prepare the beach hut areas for renovation and new wooden style huts (as seen throughout the coastal areas of Kent). The project can be split into 3 elements. Phase 1 is the removal and demolition of the old huts, phase 2 is minor cliff stabilisation retaining wall construction, phase 3 is to rebuild and prepare the entire area for the huts including the areas around the 27 huts which are to be retained.
The pricing schedule attached to this document identifies the core elements of the works that are required and the works are to be completed as part of a JCT.
