description
The University of Warwick Centre CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING has a requirement for HIGH A PERFORMANCE COMPUTING FACILITY PURCHASE AND FUTURE CALL OFF FRAMEWORK.
This tender is concerned with refreshing Warwick’s central High Performance Computing (HPC) facilities. Historically the facilities have been based on one large machine with the current resource (Minerva) comprising approx. 500 nodes and 6000 cores. Rather than decommission this machine completely, the CSC is moving to a model where 50% of its HPC facilities are refreshed every 2 years based on a 4 year lifecycle per 50% of the facility. The rationale is that a more frequent refresh cycle yields quicker access to new technology and running two machines allows a level of business continuity whilst half of the facility is refreshed. The procurement herein constitutes the first iteration of the new refresh model.
This is an ABOVE EU threshold tender
