WP3442A - Dry Mixed Recycling Negotiated Procedure

The Council wishes to procure a service for the haulage (provisional item) and processing of Dry Mixed Recyclable (DMR) waste. The current annual output is circa 24,000 tonnes of DMR waste, however, this figure cannot be guaranteed or fixed, as quantities will vary from year to year.

The Council's general domestic, co-mingled dry recycling and garden waste collection services are operated in-house. The household dry recycling kerbside collection is a fortnightly collection from households in the Council Area. The Council currently operates a co-mingled collection system with materials collected in wheeled bins.

The following materials are advertised on the Council's website and printed communications as being collected as part of the dry recycling service:

• oNewspapers and magazines;
• oJunk mail, greeting cards, envelopes, wrapping paper;
• oYellow pages, telephone directories, paperback books;
• oWriting paper, printer paper;
• oShredded paper;
• oCardboard and corrugated boxes;
• oCereal boxes, washing powder boxes;
• oMilk or fruit juice cartons;
• oPlastic or cardboard egg boxes;
• oPlastic bottles;
• oMargarine tubs, yoghurt pots;
• oWhite ready meal food trays, clear fruit trays;
• oCarrier bags;
• oFood and drinks cans, aerosol cans;
• oClean foil (from a roll and foil dishes);
• oGlass bottles and jars;
