description

The National Offender Management Service is currently developing its strategy and approving body camera systems for general use in prisons to improve staff safety and evidential recording capability. The use of body worn video cameras supports the following NOMS objectives:

Ensure a safe, decent environment
Deliver and efficient quality service

It also supports the wider MoJ priority to reform the prison system to create a fit-for-purpose, modern estate which provides accommodation at a much lower cost to the taxpayer.

Body worn cameras have been identified as a tool to be used in prisons to support the violence reduction agenda.
