description

Derby Homes is an Arm's Length Management organisation owned by Derby City Council. Derby Homes manage and maintain a portfolio of domestic housing stock currently standing at around 13,200 dwellings. These properties are owned by a number of different clients. Derby Homes has a policy of increasing its portfolio wherever it is able to do so. Both Derby Homes and Derby City Council have a goal of delivering a high quality housing service for Derby.

Former Tenant Arrears- Sundry Debt

Former tenants can owe money for a variety of reasons such as Rent Arrears, Rechargeable Repairs and Court Costs. Derby Homes is responsible for attempting to collect these debts where possible and if unsuccessful, referring the same to a professional organisation who work in this area for collection.

We currently have around 2.5 million outstanding and expect a year on year increase of 400,000

Within the period of this contract Current tenant's debts may also be referred.

Invoice Debts

Derby Homes is also responsible for pursuing and recovering debt for invoices raised to organisations and individuals for external debt which is entirely separate to former tenant arrears.

These debts may comprise a variety of non-payments

The total cost of external debt owed to Derby Homes stands at £80k. Of this, around £10k may need referring to a Debt Recovery Agency. This must first be reviewed on a case by case situation following consultation with the invoice originator.

Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
