description
There are several potential differences in how RCUK and EU FP funding schemes support UK research and innovation, looking specifically at the volume of research production and its impact in the scholarly literature.
This tender requests proposals that articulate a study that would consider broader impacts beyond the scholarly literature, by using REF2014 data as a source of information. The REF2014 case studies repertory compiles what is arguably a list of some of the UK's best and most impactful research projects. The required analysis would measure how financial support for British research, from RCUK and from EU FPs, have supported projects that have had impact on society outside the walls of academia.
Research projects captured by REF2014 impact case studies (ICSs) can be used as an output variable to capture the respective outcomes and ramifications of RCUK and EU FP funding streams within British science and innovation systems. Using funding volumes for each ICS, productivity could be calculated in terms of £1,000 investments required to obtain an RCUK-funded case study versus an EU FP-funded case study. You are requested to conduct an analysis to compare the "ICS productivity" of RCUK and EU FP funding schemes.
