description

STFC, Daresbury Laboratory, has received funding to perform qualification tests and delivery of 84 (+ 4) high- dressed cavities for ESS by the end of June 2020. The Vertical Test Facility (VTF) in which these cavities will be tested requires a Helium liquefier and warm gas recovery system. The tests will run for approximately 33 months from August 2017.

The equipment to supply this cooling power is expected to comprise of a Helium liquefier, with a nominal liquefaction rate of 100 l/h with or without LN2 (If LN2 is to be used the installation and operating costs must be offset by a reduction in overall energy consumption) to generate liquid helium at a nominal 4K, 3000l Dewar, and a warm Helium gas recovery system.
