description
The current policy and strategy arm of the ITA wishes to engage someone with freight and strategy experience who can provide high quality policy advice to the Strategic Director for Transport and the ITA on current and future initiatives and plans leading on freight work streams on behalf of the ITA, LEPs and WM authorities.
Main functions of this role:
| • | To coordinate responses to government and other consultations with relevant authorities, LEPs and similar with regards to freight |
| • | To develop and coordinate all evidence, policy advice, and initiatives towards freight within the framework of the Strategic Transport Plan. |
| • | To develop and promote the ITA’s Metropolitan Freight Strategy and associated delivery plans |
| • | To identify and manage budgets associated to delivering the main functions above |
| • | To further develop CA proposals around Safer vehicle schemes for the West Midlands |
| • | To identify new initiatives with regards to the movement of freight in the West Midlands |
| • | To provide expert advice to the Midlands Connect initiative with regards to freight and to oversee any relevant commissions |
| • | To act as the advocate for freight issues with all relevant stakeholders |
| • | To help support the evidence for the better utilisation of the M6Toll road and the work of a potential congestion commission |
| • | To support the wider policy and strategy team and emerging CA in capacity of freight expertise. |
