description

The scope of the RSSB Air Quality Steering Group covers all locations on the GB rail network including stations, depots and onboard trains. A previous RSSB project 'Air Quality in Enclosed Stations' (T1122) measured air quality in two major terminal stations. The focus of the project was the use of fixed air quality monitors to determine pollutant contributions and understand the major contributors to elevated pollution levels within each station. The project included a small sample of personal monitoring of station staff.

The GB rail industry is keen to expand upon this to understand occupational exposure in more detail, using the most appropriate techniques to assess against current and emerging occupational health standards. This project aims to cover a wide range of job roles at a number of large train stations and depots on the GB rail network.

Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
