description
UK Shared Business Services Ltd acting on behalf of the Contracting Authority have put in place a contract to facilitate the development of a solar car park and associated works. The development of the solar car park and associated works project is considered an important project that will assist in achieve the energy and environmental targets and increase the renewable energy generation in the BAS energy mix.
The project will bring forward a spend to save initiative that would enable BAS to reduce carbon emissions by the use of renewable energy systems, would provide for charging points for electrical vehicles visiting site, would enhance car park for security and enable a secure bike shed to be provided within the car park perimeter.
The project will be delivered in two stages. During Phase 1 the Contractor shall design, supply, install, test and commission the solar carports for the 4 double bays of the existing car park area, the electrical vehicle charging points, the exterior lighting system and control for the car park and swipe control barriers at the entrance and exit of the car park. During Phase 2 the Contractor shall remove the current bicycle shed and shall design, supply, install, test and commission a new secure bicycle shed (swipe control) with a solar roof/canopy.
UK Shared Business Services Ltd carried out an open competition on behalf of the Contract Authority for the development of a solar car park and associated works, the publication notice number in OJ S is: 2018/S 172-390520. No tenders were received in response to the open procedure therefore under Regulation 32 (2)(a) of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (as amended) the Contracting Authority awarded a contract by negotiated procedure without prior publication.
