description

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is being delivered by Network Rail. It is a major component of the investment that will deliver more capacity, greater reliability and reduced journey times between York, Leeds and Manchester. The upgrade is the largest Government commitment in Control Period 6 and is a key priority. It is characterised by its complexity with a number of interfaces that include the interaction with other rail services in Leeds and Manchester and with Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) proposals, involves enhancements and renewals in the same areas and envisages the deployment of European Train Control System (ETCS).

The Authority requires specialist technical advisors that have a deep technical understanding of the railway and knowledge of industry best practice.
