description

The SWNZH wishes to appoint a consultant to explore the feasibility of AD as a suitable technology to deploy at scale to process farm manure waste, sewage sludge, food waste and other organic waste products/energy crops. The aim will be to produce a system that can deal with a variety of organic wastes that also leads to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The feasibility will look at AD technology and its viability in the Heart of the Southwest and in particular the Somerset Levels region which has the added bonus of either mitigating or offsetting phosphate levels in this environmentally sensitive area as has been the case in Denmark, where AD attached to both farms and wastewater treatment works has formed part of the Danish approach to managing and reducing nutrient pollution arising from both animal and human waste.
