The purpose of the task is to develop a standard design for the MS4 accessible cantilever gantry superstructure to satisfy the following requirements:
| - | Provide support for a standard MS4 Variable Message Signal (VMS) in accordance with the Version 3 specifications |
| - | Provide support for a number of ancillary items listed in the attached Annex A. |
| - | Provide safe access from the verge to the signal and ancillary items while the network is operational ie an accessible gantry. |
| - | Be supported on a scheme specific substructure in the standard verge layouts on Smart Motorways. |
| - | Designed and certified in accordance with DMRB with full technical approval from SES for use on the network. |
| - | Provide sufficient supporting documentation for scheme designers to adopt the superstructures as part of their overall works information. |
| - | To engage with the structures fabricator community to produce Value Engineered solutions to inform the next stages of central procurement of standard products. |
