The requirement is for the procurement of Soldier Development Instruction of adventurous training courses to be delivered at Soldier Development Wing Halton and Soldier Development Wing Sennybridge. Soldier Development is an element of the Phase 1 Basic Training Common Military Syllabus (CMS) (ITG) and Combat Infantry Course (CIC) (SCHINF). The purpose of Soldier Development is to enhance military capability, stimulate individual behaviors and developing physical and mental robustness by exposure to controlled risk in a challenging and outdoor environment where the perceived risk to life is real.

The key requirements for the project are summarised below:

  • a.BT(SE) instruction of AT multi activity courses that include Rock Climbing (outdoor and Indoor), Kayak/Canoes/Surf Kayaking, Mountaineering/Hill Walking and Caving.
  • b.Instructor attendance on the electronic Care of Trainee course delivered by ASLS.
  • c.Provision of drivers - the SOR requires the Authority to provide transport whilst the contractor is responsible for providing drivers.
  • d.Provision of storekeeping functions- to manage Authority provided AT clothing and equipment.

This requirement was procured using the Managed Learning Service (MLS) framework RM3822. The preferred supplier option was chosen as the best route to market based on value for money.
