description
The British Council is looking for temporary professional commercial fine art storage for its art Collection.
The British Council Collection was established in 1938 and contains more than 8,700 modern and contemporary works by prominent and emerging UK artists and includes paintings, prints and drawings, photography, sculpture, multi-media and installation. It is managed by the Visual Arts Team.
The Collection is currently housed in West London in a building which due to the size is no longer adequate to store all works in the Collection.
The British Council has determined that the best course of action is to place part of the Collection off-site and procure the services of a Commercial fine art storage company to provide temporary storage.
The British Council will require this storage provision for at least three years with a possible extension for two further years, five years in total.
It should be recognised that the British Council will require access to the works for the purpose of annual auditing, condition checking and photography and that the works within storage will be from time to time removed from storage for the purposes of the British Council's ongoing collection care, exhibition and loan programme.
It should also be recognised that although British Council does not anticipate a reduction on the number of works stored, we do anticipate an increase over the course of the contract.
The purpose and scope of this ITT and supporting documents is to explain in further detail the requirements of the British Council and the procurement process for submitting a tender proposal.
