description
Highways England is looking to set up a contract for provision of a seconded DMRB Author. The Author will need to be able to work closely with the Highways England team based in Manchester.
This project will support the development of a consistent and fully aligned set of DMRB compliant maintenance standards within the business, to ensure that they are fully align with our customer service strategy. Including revisions to Inspection Maintenance Requirements, Asset Delivery Asset Management requirements, Network Occupancy Requirements and Severe Weather requirements. It will incorporate changes to standards and requirements that will be required to support the "Intelligence Led Maintenance" approach. Also it will be looking at associated DMRB documents for impacts from related roadworks trials and it will look for any regulation changes and additions in the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
This presents an opportunity for the Customer and Operational Requirements Group (based in Safety, Engineering and Standards) to consider how cyclic maintenance, asset repair, operational requirements and the associated interventions that occur during the assets lifecycle, are detailed throughout the DMRB. This should improve the customers experience, provide resilient and durable asset performance, improve safety for customers and those who maintain and operate the asset.
The extra resource will be required to enact the changes to DMRB and to interpret regulation and standard changes to align them with changes in maintenance Requirement and Advice Documents (RAD). Because this is a temporary position and there is no availability under head count, a seconded DMRB Author would be resourced from this budget to deliver the works.
