Exercise bikes and videos for care homes in mid and south Essex

This is a Contract Award Notice to communicate a sub-threshold contract award made by NHS Castle Point & Rochford Clinical Commissioning Group on behalf of the Mid and South Essex CCGs (NHS Castle Point & Rochford Clinical Commissioning Group, NHS Mid Essex CCG, NHS Basildon & Brentwood CCG, NHS Southend CCG, NHS Thurrock CCG) (the "CCG"), in accordance with the CCGs local Standing Financial Instructions.

The contract award is made to Motitech UK Ltd for the provision of pre-programmed laptops, Motiview main licenses and exercise bikes for use in care homes in mid and south Essex, aimed to stimulate older people and people with dementia to be more physically and cognitively active. By using the exercise bike, video and sound, the users can take cycle trips through familiar surroundings and childhood memories, creating positive benefits such as:

-Improved mobility and self-efficacy

-Reminiscence and social interaction

-Better strength and balance, preventing falls

-Faster rehabilitation

-Increased appetite

-Supporting healthy weight management

-Better sleep, less pain and less medication

-Improves physical and mental wellbeing

-Supports preventative care in terms of preventing injuries such as hip fracture and has a positive impact on low mood.

The contract period commences 25th March 2021 to 24th March 2023 with an extension of up to 12 months until 24th March 2024, at a total aggregate contract value is £136,008 (inclusive VAT).

The CCG is publishing this Contract Award Notice in the Contracts Finder in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (as amended by The Public Procurement (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020) for spend above £25,000.
