description

Historic England is looking to fund a project that will define the potential of NHLE (Scheduled Monument) data for thematic analysis at the approximate scale of Local Planning Authorities. To understand key characteristics of SMs and their relationships to landscape datasets such as landscape designations, Historic Landscape Characterisation (HLC) types and land-use categories. To explore how representative SMs are of significant sites in the wider archaeological landscape, developing links to work on archaeological sensitivity and contributing to broader assessments of archaeological significance, and to identify opportunities for strategic and thematic projects that will be of value to different groups within Historic England.
