description
The main objectives of this work are:
| a) | to assess the effectiveness of existing regulations on drivers' hours and working time in mitigating the road safety risk of fatigue related incidents for commercial freight vehicle drivers, and |
| b) | to explore the impacts of relaxations to aspects of the drivers' hours rules on both drivers and haulage operators. |
Further, the work should consider the appropriateness of the rules for drivers whereby driving does not constitute their main work duties, with a particular focus on volumetric concrete mixers and abnormal indivisible loads.
It should be noted that the scope of this work is limited to goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes; passenger service vehicles are excluded.
