description

Nationally the demand for ophthalmology services is increasing due to population growth, earlier diagnosis of chronic conditions, new treatments and people living longer. NHS Surrey Downs Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is working with local providers to improve the ophthalmology services. The key aim of the services; PEARS and Glaucoma, is to provide a responsive, high quality assessment and referral service for a range of minor eye conditions in an extended primary care setting and the monitoring of stable Glaucoma patients within a community setting. It was agreed to implement a choice of suppliers using the Any Qualified Provider (AQP) process. Providers that achieve accreditation will added to a framework of providers that patients can access in line with patient choice.
