ENT Services for West Berkshire CCGs

The following notice is a PIN notice only and is being placed to alert providers of a potential up-coming procurement exercise. Any values and timescales stated within this PIN notice are for guideline purposes only and should not be taken as a guarantee.

The NHS Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group Federation is considering its options for commissioning ENT services. Specifically, the federation intends to commission a primary care based assessment and diagnostic service, meeting the referral criteria to manage patients in the community.

The service could potentially be delivered by a single provider or multiple providers, and the CCGs are keen for applicants to indicate whether they would look to cover the whole of West Berkshire or part of it. Should you wish to express interest, please indicate your preference to the above, where your organisation is currently situated and/or where your organisation would intend to provide the service from.

The service would aim to see urgent patients/cases seen within two weeks of referral, and non-urgent seen in turn within four weeks of referral.

Below is a list of medical conditions to be investigated, treated or advised upon including:

• Tonsils and adenoids
• Rhinitis, nasal obstruction, nasal polyps
• Epistaxis
• Discharging or blocked ears
• Voice hoarseness (over six weeks)
• Globus
• Vertigo

There are currently two services in place with the current total contract values standing at £124,000 per annum.
