description

The successful tenderer will be required to provide catering services at Corfe Hills School.

Corfe Hills School is an Academy formed in April 2011 for students from Year 9 and includes a vibrant sixth form.

There are currently 930 students in Years 9 – 11 and 400 in the Sixth Form but the capacity of the school is 1719 and it is anticipated that numbers will rise to this level within the period of the contract. There are approximately 200 staff on site each day.

The school buildings were purpose built in 1976 and the main kitchen has changed little since this time. The catering services are contracted to Chartwells at present, and there are currently three catering outlets:

Choices Café ~ seating 80, including a servery from the kitchen
Snack Shack ~ adjacent to Choices Café
Shades Café ~ seating 60 for sixth formers only; located on the first floor with a hot servery for food which is cooked in the main kitchen.

The contract being tendered is for a minimum five year duration from 1 August 2016 and we are inviting option proposals for longer periods to a maximum of 10 years where this enables a higher level of investment.

The provision will cover all catering services within the school, which currently includes: breakfast, mid-morning break and lunch. There may be an opportunity to expand this to provide hospitality for school events.

Corfe Hills School expects the successful contractor to be committed to compliance with the School Food Plan, using fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients prepared on site. Commitment to other school initiatives and Government policies that are relevant to catering is also required.

The School is continually seeking ways to improve and develop the social environment for students and staff, to give them the catering and dining facilities they deserve and need to support their learning and teaching. The objective is to increase take up of school meals which will be encouraged through cashless payment methods, reduced queuing and increased dining capacity.

Capital investment proposals in support of these aims would be welcomed as part of the Contractor’s tender submission. The School would wish for the Contractor to consider making this investment within the existing catering facilities and at other locations on the school site.
