Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) Software

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service wishes to appoint a contractor for the supply Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) software which will be configurable with the recently procured Control system. The MDT software will be required to run on Panasonic Toughbook A3 tablet.

The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) is seeking to engage with the market by obtaining expressions of interest regarding the upcoming tender requirement for the MDT Software.

WYFRS would like to understand the markets interest and its capacity to bid and deliver the contract. A brief, but non-exhaustive list of the key requirements are as follows:

The primary functions of the MDT software is receive information from our Control system, such as mobilisation/turn out information, initiate contact with Control via status messaging, or request to speak functions and view risk information.

Software to be capable of working across various platforms including Android and Windows. The system will predominantly work on Android platform (Panasonic FZ-A3 tablet with Android version 11 or later).

Compatible with outputs from all versions of Frequentis CRS.

Ability to update across cellular and wi-fi networks.

Map facility with tools such as measuring, location of vehicle(s).

The ability to link to 3rd party apps such as Google Mapps (or similar) to provide routing and guidance.

The ability to view risk information and other documents in a range of formats including PDF.

The software should continue to allow the tablet to use other approved 3rd party apps compatible with Microsoft InTune and/or Google Managed Play Store

The tender is to be issued approx. February/March 2023, with a contract start date of approx. 1st June 2024. The contract will be in place for a minimum of 5 years, with optional +1, +1, + 1, +1 years (9 years total). WYFRS envisage the budget for the full 9-year term of this contract is to be between approx. £500,000 - £675,000.
