description

1302/288/SW/F/15 Design, Installation and Set-up of High-accuracy Robotic Milling System

The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for the design, installation and set-up of High-accuracy Robotic Milling System for use within the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre's Factory 2050 at Europa Avenue, Sheffield

Scope of Requirement:

The AMRC wishes to change the method of CNC control for a KUKA Titan Robot to a system that will use external linear encoders and new kinematic control to provide a greatly increased accuracy of the robot’s movement, in paths and in motion. Several major hardware components are already owned or specified for order, new and unused, by the AMRC for this purpose:

  • KUKA KR1000 LR750 Titan Robot
  • KRC4 Controller
  • Siemens 840DSL Machine Tool Controller
  • Renishaw RTLA-S self-adhesive absolute scale linear encoders with Resolute read-heads

Tenderer is to design and install a high-accuracy robotics system using high-accuracy external linear encoders to measure a KUKA Titan motion, the derivation of new kinematics, the design and build of a machining end-effector, plus the undertaking of a full setup, safety cell and calibration for this system.
