description

Several divisions within the agency require the need to look-up/use a postcode look-up solution, either using a disc, searching websites etc., to either validate postcode data present or input in to our various current systems which is used to generate legally binding documents. These divisions may want the ability to integrate a postcode look-up solution with other systems in the future.

Enforcement staff within the agency uses an IT system called Intellicase and this is the mainstay tool for recording all referrals and complaints relating to Enforcement work in agency. Most Enforcement cases involve reference(s) in some form or another to addresses of premises and it is important that these are as accurate as possible, especially when using address data to link nefarious activities from (apparently) unrelated cases which occur at the same addresses or associated locales.

The Intellicase system supports the use of standard commercial postcode look-up software but as it stands this has not been deployed in Intellicase due to it being an add-on. Enforcement staff now needs to deploy look-up functionality to ensure address accuracy, deal with Health and Safety issues and reduce “double imputing”.

In addition, by cross-referencing address data with voting registers and other open source information linked directly with the “add-on” address look-up programme Enforcement staff will be able to link map co-ordinates to addresses thereby allowing intelligence analysts to identify “hotspots” of activity. In turn this will facilitate better deployment of resources to target individuals or areas putting public health at risk through their activities.
