description

The proposed Highways England task aligns to the following imperatives:

1.Safety - providing a standardised solution which will drive familiarity
2.Delivery - reduce the amount of delay on site due to re-design which is often required under current delivery methods

It links to 2 of the 5 areas of focus for the business:

a)Design & Construction - introducing a standardised plate which will reduce design time, delay on site due to re-design work and reduce installation time
b)Operations - introducing standardised equipment will bring repeatable and predictable maintenance regimes.

Smart Motorways Programme (SMP) Product Development and Innovation team is undertaking a programme of exploratory innovation projects aimed at finding ways of improving worker safety in construction, maintenance and operation of Smart Motorways, as well as reducing time taken to complete works and therefore cost. The programme consists of 21 projects, all following a similar lifecycle:

Discover > Develop > Demonstrate > Deliver

The work package described in this requirement is for support in the Discover phase of our Standardised Family of Bases Project.
