description

NHS Arden & Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (NHS Arden & GEM CSU) on behalf of NHS England are carrying out a market engagement exercise for the forthcoming procurement: High Risk Breast Screening (HRBS) pqq_171 refers.

The breast screening service will provide screening surveillance to women identified as being at high risk of breast cancer, in accordance with NHS Breast Screening Programme Guidance and Quality Standards.

This service will be provided by a single organisation to deliver a high quality, centre of excellence service model. The provider will be required to demonstrate how a high quality, accessible service can be delivered for eligible women in the West Midlands (as defined by Government Office West Midlands).

Activity projections indicate that screening surveillance for 250 women a year will be required. Approximately 20-30% will require further assessment following screening. The HRBS Provider will be required to link with relevant services to ensure that eligible women receive the necessary care to manage their condition and associated risk.

This service has been included in the national service specification for NHS Breast Screening Programme since April 2013. Not all NHS Breast Screening Services are able to deliver high risk breast screening surveillance that meets the NHS Breast Screening Programme defined quality.

Please refer to the attachments section in Bravo for a copy of the Draft specification for the Services, please note a final version will be issued with the subsequent procurement when advertised.

If you or your organisation is interested in High Risk Breast Screening, we would be delighted if you could complete the market engagement questionnaire on Bravo.

For the purposes of this exercise, the West Midlands includes the local authority areas of: Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Herefordshire, Sandwell, Shropshire, Solihull, Staffordshire, Walsall, Warwickshire, Wolverhampton and Worcestershire.

Please note this is purely a market assessment exercise to gather facts on potential providers. The subsequent procurement will be advertised separately and all organisations wanting to participate will need to respond to the procurement advertisement as and when published. The responses received during the market analysis exercise will not be taken into account in any future evaluation process as part of the formal procurement process.
