Cetacean Strandings around the UK coast (Life History Analysis)

This project will analyse a number of different samples from stranded cetaceans which have been collected over the past 10 years which will be provided free of charge. This will provide a more detailed understanding of life history characteristics (e.g. age, reproductive status etc.) which will in turn provide the opportunity to understand more about how UK populations are impacted by known pressures. For example, PCB concentrations and their link to decreased reproductive health in cetaceans in UK waters.

This will also help inform our understanding of the causes behind cetacean strandings and of the risks facing cetaceans and also help to identify any possible trends which should be of concern.
