description

The A59 is one of the main east/west road links within the County and has had to be closed since 2nd February 2024 at Kex Gill due to the verge slipping away from the highway edge and undermining the carriageway (which effects circa 10,000 vehicles a day).

Due to this slippage, an underground service was unearthed within the damaged area and has continued to slip when there's been further movement of the slope. The company identified who own the apparatus is Zayo and we contacted them to get it replaced/reinstated at the same time as repair work takes place. Quotation has been received to carry out the work which must be funded by the Local Highway Authority.

This cable needs to be reinstated before the repair work can take place and the road can re-open.
