description
This project will verify the UK’s greenhouse gas (GHG) Inventory by providing high-quality estimates of UK GHG emissions based on observed concentrations of GHGs over the UK. This will involve the management of gas monitoring stations in the UK, the identification of baseline gas concentrations, the modelling of GHG emissions, uncertainty analysis and comparisons with the UK’s official GHG Inventory.
Lot 2: Management of and data collection at station(s) in the UK:
This Lot should provide high-frequency monitoring of the atmospheric concentrations of the Kyoto basket of greenhouse gases (GHG), covering the UK, Ireland and Continental Europe. This should be achieved by collecting atmospheric concentration data at monitoring station(s) across the UK. These station(s) can either utilise existing station(s) or set up new ones, or use existing data from elsewhere. Bidders are asked to present options and their preferred option for the number, location and capability of stations to fulfil the project objectives, balancing cost and scientific need. The pricing schedule in the ITT must be completed. The preferred option will be scored for price and evaluated. Data from these stations will be made publically available and, combined with the data from Mace Head collected in Lot 1, fed into the analysis Lot of this project (Lot 3) for use in verifying the UK’s GHG Inventory.
