description

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) recently reported on their Asset Management market study . One of their proposed remedies is to refer the market for investment advisory and fiduciary management services to institutional investors to the CMA for further investigation . The FCA is considering whether to refer the market to the CMA. Should they decide to do this, the reference is likely to be made during September.

We are considering commissioning survey research with the main customer groups for providers of these services to inform any investigation the CMA conducts into this market. A final decision on whether to do so would be made following an FCA referral, should there be one.

The investment advisory market consists of a dozen or so large players, with around 60% of market share being accounted for by the three largest investment consultancy firms , with a tail of smaller consultancies.

We would propose to conduct a telephone survey, primarily with pension scheme trustees.
