description

There are currently two (2) old waste transfer sites based at the junction of Cricket Inn Road and Manor Lane, with one (1) of the sites backing on to the Sheffield Parkway. The former operator held 2 environmental permits which were issued by the Environment Agency. (Permit/site 1 issued 19/10/2001 reference number 65207; permit/site 2 issued 03/07/2008 reference number 100401)

The sites have now been abandoned by the former operator and are in a poor condition, needing attention to avoid ongoing issues.

It is estimated that there are approximately ten (10) to fifteen (15) thousand tonnes of mixed waste and thirty-five (35) to sixty (60) thousand tonnes of soil/rubble across both sites.

Sheffield City Council (The Council) wishes to look at the possibility of clearing Site 1, whose permit was issued to allow mixed waste to be deposited and processed. This site is of most concern due to the nature of condition, waste over and above the permit limits and location close to a major trunk road in to Sheffield.

The Council wishes to engage with suppliers and identify the best possible route to undertake the clearance, whether there is appetite in the market place and what the indicative price would be.
