description
The Queen Square Bus Terminal caters for 1 million buses per year (which equates to approximately 20 buses / hour / bus stand) and is reputed to be the busiest in Europe. The Terminal was constructed circa 1996 with a Hardicrete wearing course. Subsequent failure of the wearing course resulted in re-surfacing using SMA in 2004. The Bus Terminal is located adjacent to Queen Square, Liverpool (comprising Hood Street and Roe Street), and comprises: 8 Bus Stands with shelters on the northern side of the dividing central barrier. On the on the southern side of the dividing central barrier there is are some bus stands without shelters (in a lay-by type arrangement fronting the Royal Court Theatre), together with 4 Bus Stands with shelters. The purpose of the works is to replace the existing failing bituminous flexible pavement materials with semi-ridged pavements for the circulatory carriageways, and reinforced concrete slabs for the bus stands and alighting areas. The proposed start date for the site works is 18/01/2016 The proposed completion date for the works is 21/03/2016
