description
Cambridge City Council wish to appoint a Contractor to develop ten sites for residential accommodation and redevelop one further site for community use in the Cambridge area. The intention is to develop a pipeline of projects for the selected Contractor to work with appointed design teams to develop plans, submit drawings for planning approval and to build out schemes.
The council is looking for a contractor that wants to be part of the Council's ambition to deliver community centres, council rented homes, accessibility and sustainability. The pipeline includes two mobility accessible bungalows, c.15 Net Zero Carbon homes across two sites, and c. 30 passivhaus homes across 8 sites and a refurbishment of a community centre.
Contractors are welcome to bid for Lot 1 and/or Lot 2. Lot 1 is split into a, b, c to highlight the pipeline, target programme and tender requirements, but is a single Lot.
Planning permissions for the eleven sites are not expected to be granted at the same time, so contractors will be expected to take this into account when programming and resourcing the Works.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the council's housing and community centre programme and to be at the forefront of sustainability meeting the council's aspiration to be Net Zero by 2030. An overview with a presentation and a Q&A will be held via teams on 20th December 2021 and on January 7th 2022.
The council understands that Christmas is not an ideal time for contractors to bid and for that reason the time allocated for submission is longer than normal at 40 days (excluding bank holidays) with the deadline 25th January 2022. The council will short list up to three of the highest scoring Contractors and hold post tender submission clarification interviews on January 31st 2022.
