description

Highways England is looking to set up a contract for provision of a satellite leak detection survey and to map the soil moisture content of the top soil layer (5-10cm) using high resolution data for a 70km by 30km area of the East Midlands. It is a requirement of the task that the resulting map would be verified using field soil sampling from gravimetric soil moisture content measurements. These two data sets must be overlaid to detect leaks in water supplies / drainage systems and we hope to establish whether this method can identify where leaks and ground saturation are causing damage to our other assets.
