description

RSSB would like to invite suppliers to tender for The Sector Delivery Plan project.

On 21st August 2015, the Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin, announced plans to create 30,000 apprenticeships for the road and rail industry by 2020. Terry Morgan, Chairman of Crossrail will assist with the development of a transport strategy.

In response to this announcement, RSSB and NSARE (National Skills Academy for Railway Engineering) are looking for a partner in the development of a skills strategy delivery plan for the rail sector. The plan will form the foundation of a long term rail skills strategy that NSARE is developing for the GB rail sector.

This delivery plan will aim at addressing the following key questions:

What skills do we need, how many and when?
How will the skills gaps be filled?
How do we develop and assure the quality of the skills needed to ensure competence?
What training & development programmes and content are required?
How will training be assured?
What collateral will be required to support this e.g. facilities & delivery platforms?
Why should an employer invest in skills – what is the business case?
How do we secure industry buy-in to the strategy and its subsequent implementation?
What usefully can be done at a sector level?

This will also be supported by a high-level positioning paper.

Additional information: Please can you advise of your intention to bid by emailing Jenny Neill at jenny.neill@rssb.co.uk
