Expressions of Interest for the provision of Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit Beds for Derbyshire CCG registered patients

NHS Arden & Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (NHS Arden & GEM CSU) on behalf of NHS Hardwick Clinical Commissioning Group (HCCG) acting as Lead Commissioner on behalf of the Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Groups (including Erewash, South Derbyshire and North Derbyshire CCG's) are inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified providers to deliver Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit Beds for Derbyshire CCG registered patients.

Previously Derbyshire CCG's did not commission PICU provision within Derbyshire, instead they commissioned an Enhanced Care Ward with DHcFT. Today, where a PICU bed is needed, this is currently purchased primarily through private sector providers, at present there is no NHS or Private Sector PICU Beds in Derbyshire..

The key aims and objectives identified by the Commissioners will include;

Agreement to provide gender specific PICU services in or near Derbyshire, potentially in conjunction with other regional CCG commissioners.

Additional information: The aim of the expression of interest exercise is to:

1. Support the CCGs informed decision making on the potential options on the future re-commissioning of these services.
2. To help refine the commissioning and procurement approach and;
3. To gauge the level of interest from the market in delivering the 2 services illustrated above This is a market testing exercise and does not commit the CCG to carry out a procurement process. Current services will remain in place during this period in line with existing contracts and service level agreements.

Bidders who have expressed an interest in this market testing exercise will have the opportunity to submit a separate response to the Contract Notice as applicable.
