description

The Sheffield Royce Institute is a~£34M project based in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Sheffield is part of the national Henry Royce Institute (with the main Hub in Manchester) which aims to grow the UK world-leading research and innovation base in advanced materials science, fundamental to all industrial sectors and the national economy. The Sheffield Royce Institute focuses on Advanced Materials Processing and will be delivered through two centres - the Royce Discovery Centre (RDC) and the Royce Translational Centre (RTC). These state of the art facilities will allow materials discovery, materials manufacturing and prototype production and will act as an open access centre of excellence for the UK.

We seek to purchase a state of the art, computer-controlled user friendly, Field Emission Electron Probe Microanalyser (FE-EPMA). The instrument will be used for spatially resolved, quantitative, determination of material composition of a wide range of different materials. The EPMA should have both WDS and EDS.
