Portsmouth City Council wish to commission a permanent public art installation on the theme of Safer Streets that reflects the role that Art has to repurpose space from criminal to social activity.
Applications are invited from individual artists or artist teams with experience working in the public realm. The aim is to create a suitable piece of artwork to reflect the theme of working together to reduce crime and that is appropriate for the location within the underpass, which connects the Northern and Southern Side of Lake Road.
Design and production budget: £10,000
Deadline for applications: Thursday 28th October 2021 at 17:00
Selected artists appointed by: Friday 5th November 2021
Completion of art installation: 18th March 2022

As well as this project, the Council are also tendering for a similar piece of artwork at Paradise Street. Artists are welcome to submit for either of both projects, however both pieces of artwork are required to be installed by 18th March.
