description
A full valuation exercise of the entire museum collections was conducted in 2012/13. Our insurers require that valuations are updated every 3-4 years and so an update is now due.
Update to museum collections valuations for insurance purposes. Collections include:
| • | Fine Art including oil paintings, watercolours, sculpture and prints including the German Expressionist collection. |
| • | Decorative and World Arts comprising furniture, European and Oriental ceramics, jewellery, costume and textiles, glass, silver and craft items. |
| • | Social History including the Regimental collection of medals, silver and other ephemera. |
| • | Technology including beam engines, road vehicles, typewriters and radios. |
| • | Antiquities including coins, clocks and Egyptology. |
| • | Archaeology including Roman pottery and mosaics. |
| • | Natural Sciences including geology and taxidermy. |
We need individual valuations for every item worth £10,000 or more and bulk valuations by type for everything else. The collections were valued in 2012/13 and so this should mostly be a desk-based exercise to go through those valuations and update them, plus add on any items that now come into the £10,000+ bracket. At present, there are approx. 700 items individually listed, of which nearly 500 are Fine Art.
Two areas that need assessing from scratch are a collection of jewellery and the oriental ceramics. Expressions of Interest & further information can be found at: https://procontract.due-north.com/Advert?advertId=b2d0fcfd-4369-e611-8114-000c29c9ba21
