The Institution will provide academic supervision in the form of appropriately qualified personnel in addition to the required equipment and consumables for this PhD study in order to answer the following research questions:

a.Does the addition of angiotensin II or vasopressin improve renal perfusion in shocked patients with acute kidney injury when compared to treatment with noradrenaline alone?
b.Does persistent impairment of renal perfusion play a role in the pathogenesis of acute kidney injury following traumatic haemorrhagic shock?
c.Can monitoring urinary pO2 detect the development of acute kidney injury in at risk critically ill patients?
