description
The Engineers Gallery is a new exhibition to be situated in gallery 22, on Level 1 of the East Hall at the Science Museum, London. The exhibition will remain open for a minimum of 5 years and comprises 350sqm of gallery space. The project has been split into two packages:
- Basebuild (works completed)
The gallery basebuild, completed in July 2022, comprised the installation of new ceiling track lighting, new timber floor, installation of blinds and MEP items (incl CCTV, alarm receivers and wifi). The basebuild has been designed to last a minimum of 25years and is a continuation of the basebuild in the adjacent galleries.
- Exhibition fit-out (this tender)
The exhibition fit-out package provides the setworks infrastructure to celebrate previous and future winners of the Queen Elizabeth Prize (QEP) for Engineering. The exhibition will be divided into four areas: bodies, Homes, Connections and Creating. The lifespan of the setworks infrastructure is to be minimum of five years. The content of the gallery will be updated yearly to incorporate each year's QEP winner. The content will reveal the ways engineers work sustainably, with precision, in a connected manner, and to highly creative ends. The displays will reuse a rich mixture of images, objects and audio-visual content, allowing visitors to explore who engineers are, how they work, what inspires them, and how the technologies they create can potentially influence lives all over the world.
