description

The Department for Education (DfE) is seeking to engage the services of a supplier to provide recommendations to their Scheme Administrator on the eligibility for ill health retirement benefits of members of the Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS).

Ill health recommendations will be made in a timely manner and in accordance with the Teachers' Pensions Regulations 2010 and 2015 based on the scheme member's application and accompanying evidence from medical practitioners and employers. Based on historical data, there are likely to be around 1,000 cases each year (including appeals).

The successful supplier shall also attend and facilitate meetings with the department to discuss performance against specified standards, and other matters relating to the contracted service.

The successful supplier must treat all information about pension scheme members as confidential and meet General Data Protection Regulations in its handling of data.

Additional information: The purpose of this Prior Information Notice (PIN) is to provide interested suppliers with advance notification of the department's anticipated future requirements.

If you are interested in understanding further the department's requirements please submit an expression of interest to Sourcing.HELP@education.gov.uk by 5pm on 1st February 2019. It is envisaged that the supplier engagement meeting(s) will be held on 12th February 2019. The exact time, date and location will be confirmed in advance with suppliers who express an interest.

Subject to the level of response from interested suppliers, the department will either hold a supplier engagement event to which all suppliers who have expressed an interest will be invited or it will meet with interested suppliers individually to explain the requirements in more detail and its plans for re-procuring the services.

This PIN is not a call for competition and a Contract Notice launching the procurement is expected to be published in OJEU in February 2019.
