description
Somerset County Council (SCC) is looking to replace its existing fleet maintenance contract which will conclude on 31.3.2017. Currently, SCC has a fleet of 480 vehicles (the majority of which are owned by SCC) that require servicing, maintenance and associated services, and is seeking a partner to work in an agile and dynamic way to align with the Council's changing vehicle asset portfolio. The current fleet includes cars, light commercial vans, 4 x 4 vehicles, 3.5 ton commercial drop-side vehicle, 16 seat and 9 seat minibuses (standard and wheelchair accessible with tail-lift), library vans (less than 7.5t), trailers, mowers, and plant. This opportunity will not include SCC's winter fleet maintenance vehicles, as these are managed and maintained via a separate contract. SCC is seeking a contractor(s) to maintain its vehicles (to include MOT, service inspection, recovery, repair) which are dispersed throughout the county of Somerset, and it is likely that future tenderers will need to consider access, and facilitation, to non-Council owned depots and workshops throughout the district boundaries of the County. Somerset County Council is a founding member of the South-west Highways Alliance (SWHA); The collaborative alliance of all highways authorities in the South-west of England. The scope of this opportunity may extend to members of the SWHA (http://www.sw-ha.uk) and/or other public sector partners including District Councils, the NHS, Schools, and Academies. The contract will operate for 4 years from the 1.4.2017 to the 31.3.2021 with 2 extension options of 1 year each. Operators will be required to provide a wide range of vehicle services including (but not limited to) servicing, provision of MOT's, repairs, vehicle recovery and potentially vehicle delivery and collection. SCC intends to hold a supplier event for organisations interested in this exciting opportunity, in order to both provide information to the market and, where required, help to refine the Council's requirements. This will be held at The Old Bear Restaurant, Taunton, 14 Upper High Street, TA1 3PZ on 7.6.2016 from 10:00 to 12:00. To confirm your attendance to this event, please contact Bill Warden at bwarden@somerset.gov.uk
