1250/275/EML/COM/15 AFP Heating System

The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for the supply, installation and commissioning of AFP Heating System for use within the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at Catcliffe in Rotherham.

Scope of Requirement:

The AMRC Composites Centre is required to build complex components with intricate male and female geometries, most frequently constructed from multi ply carbon composite materials. The current hot gas torch system for heating thermoplastic AFP tapes is limiting our lay down rates, loud, thermally inefficient and poorly controlled.

The AMRC AFP facility utilises a number of removable heads that fit onto a Kawasaki robot (Model ZZX130L) which operates within an Automated Dynamics control system.

New heating system is required to replace the hot gas torch and integrate with the existing robot.
