WP3310 - Producing a new Green Space Strategy and Action Plan 2017-22

Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced consultants to review Walsall's Green Space Strategy 2012-17 and produce a new strategy and action plan that will assist the council to manage, maintain and develop its diverse stock of green spaces for the next five years.

The Green Space Strategy supports priorities set out in the Corporate Plan and the Health and Wellbeing Strategy. A draft Walsall Playing Pitch Strategy has recently been developed, whilst other relevant plans and policies include Walsall Allotments and Community Gardens policy and Walsall Play Strategy action plan.

The Green Space Strategy will be reviewed and updated, and a new five year action plan prepared. This will take into account the definitions of hierarchy and will need to be reviewed accordingly. It will also recognise on-going reductions in public sector finances / resources, integrate recommendations of other strategic documents and reflect closer working with Public Health, Sports and Leisure Development, and other partners.
