Shoreditch Public Realm and Urban Greening Framework

Hackney Council has awarded a contract for the development of a Public Realm and Urban Greening Framework for Shoreditch to a qualified supplier with expertise in public realm design and transport planning. The contract will support the Council's vision for a more sustainable, pedestrian-friendly, and biodiverse urban environment.

The appointed supplier will undertake a comprehensive analysis of Shoreditch, providing strategic recommendations to reduce vehicle impact, enhance pedestrian routes and public spaces, and increase urban greening. The framework will present high-level, concept-based options for public realm improvements and major transport infrastructure redesign, aligning with the draft Future Shoreditch Area Action Plan (AAP) and other key Council priorities.

The final framework will be incorporated into the adopted Shoreditch AAP, ensuring a long-term, cohesive strategy for public realm enhancements and environmental sustainability in the area.
