description

The Department for Transport (DfT) is commissioning a research project to support the drafting of a statutory report into trailer safety. This research project must produce an assessment of the number and causes of accidents involving trailers which resulted in injury or death. It should (where feasible) give an indication of the scale of off-road incidents not directly captured in DfT road casualty statistics. The report must also give an overview of benefits and challenges to requiring mandatory testing and registration of relevant trailers.
