The Department for Education have awarded a contract for the provision (continuation) of the Independent Chair to the Northamptonshire Children's Service Trust.
Throughout the appointment period the contractor will:
| - | Provide strategic leadership to the Company. This will include: |
| o | Setting a continued ambitious vision for improvement and innovation. |
| o | Continued strategic approach for the Board's leadership in order to perform its core functions effectively. |
| o | Continue to develop the Board's strategic priorities that reflect the Company's strategic priorities. |
| - | Supporting and guiding the Board to ensure the transparent selection appointment, assessment and (should it prove necessary) the removal of directors, or any other direct appointee. |
| - | Oversee institutional performance. |
| - | Supporting and guiding the Board in sound financial management of the Company. |
| - | Reporting on performance, and such other matters as the Department may request. |
| - | Acting as the principal spokesperson and representative for the Board, advocating, and promoting the work of the Company in social work, social care, education and corporate settings. |
| - | Fulfil procedural role in the operating of the Company. This will include - chairing and leading all Board meetings, strategy reviews and other such meetings. |
| - | In accordance with the Company's governance procedures acting on behalf of the board between board meetings to make immediate decisions. |
| - | Provide regular verbal and written reports to the Secretary of State, the Minister for Children and Families and other officials. |
| - | Participate in DfE's formal reviews of the LAs progress and make recommendation to the DfE on whether progress has been sufficient. |
