Caretaker Services for Out of Hours Urgent Dental Care Services in Birmingham (6 Lots)

NHS England and NHS Improvement - West Midlands (referred to as the Commissioner) is inviting suitably qualified and experienced providers to express an interest in delivering Out of Hours Urgent Dental Care Services (Caretaker Services) at sites in Birmingham and Solihull for the following Lots:

Lot 1 - North Birmingham - Saturdays

Lot 2 - North Birmingham - Sundays and Bank Holidays)

Lot 3 - South Birmingham - Saturdays

Lot 4 - South Birmingham - Sundays and Bank Holidays)

Lot 5 - Solihull - Saturdays

Lot 6 - Solihull - Sundays and Bank Holidays.

This procurement is to provide services under a caretaker arrangement to ensure ongoing cover for Out of Hours Services from 1st April 2021 for Birmingham, Solihull and adjacent areas. The original intention to have a single location based in the centre of Birmingham has been suspended in favour of three separate locations each providing Saturday or Sunday and Bank Holiday services. This is in response to the current COVID pandemic and designed to reduce unnecessary travel.

The Commissioners intention will be to revert to a single location model in line with the recommendations of the previously published Health Needs Assessment and Public Consultation undertaken during 2019. The timetable for reverting to the original arrangements will be reviewed subject to conditions in place at the end of the contract term.

The Services are required to be open at weekends (either Saturday or Sunday and Bank Holidays) as described for each Lot for a minimum of four hours to include midday and decontamination process to follow clinical face to face hours.

Potential Bidders are to note, any premises listed outside of the specified Lot boundaries published within the tender documentation will be rejected.

The current contracts for the existing services will end on 31 March 2021 and as a result the successful provider is expected to be fully operational, providing services from 1st April 2021. Potential bidders should note the limited timetable to mobilise services.
